TGIF! THANK GOODNESS IT'S FRIDAY! The Gollner's
are here!!!
We praise God for Pastor
Steve who for the past three years has spent his days off on
Friday mornings calling donors to thank them for their gifts on
behalf of the Kokomo Rescue Mission. He is the pastor of Mount
Gilead Baptist Church, so displaying concern for others comes
natural. He prays with the donors himself when asked for prayer
and then records the request so the staff can also pray.
Steve and his wife, Angie, have six gorgeous
children. Together, as a family, his wife and children also
volunteer on Fridays at the Care & Share Store. "We
think it is important to volunteer as a family activity," he
states, "and since we are home-schoolers, we are able to
bring the family in during the school year.
Pastor Steve has spoken during the men's chapel
service and has had an opportunity to connect with the residents.
After volunteering in the morning, the family joins the residents
and other volunteers in our dining room for some yummy lunch.
"If you leave hungry [from the dining room], it's your own
fault," he laughs.
Pastor Steve has involved with our annual Yes We
CAN teen scavenger hunt food drive since the inception of the
event. He encourages other pastors to get their youth involved.
"I have friends who are also pastors in other cities and
from a pastoral perspective, I appreciate the Kokomo Rescue
Mission and feel thankful for all that KRM does in our community."
Howard-Miami
Mennonite Youth Go "ON MISSION" Without Leaving Home!
They arrived at
Kokomo Rescue Mission ready to work, and WORK they did. For two
whole days the young people pulled weeds, washed windows, cleaned
toys, sorted canned goods and had a great time serving God by
serving others.
Thanks so much
to every young person and their adult leaders and sponsors!
We are
so very grateful for every volunteer, doing jobs large or small.
We couldn't make it without you!!
