Providing
Refuge and Restoration for Homeless Women and Children |

The face of homelessness in
America is changing. Instead of the stereotypical disheveled
middle-aged man with a bottle in a bag, the typical homeless
person today may be a young woman with a baby in her arms and a
toddler at her side.
Crisis Shelter
Single women or families
enter Open Arms through a three night crisis shelter program.
After this, guests may choose to complete a 30 day short-term
shelter program, requiring a commitment from the woman to set
reasonable goals toward independent living and to actively pursue
those goals.
"GROWING"
At the end of 30 days,
women are offered the opportunity to enter the intermediate level
program (5 months) called "GROWING," Graciously
Restoring Our Women In Need of God. GROWING will require the
woman to attend classes such as Basic Life Skills, Spiritual
Growth and improve their learning skills in the computerized
Learning Center. The women must agree to keep their own personal
sleeping area clean, complete a housecleaning chore for the
benefit of the shelter and abide by curfew. Otherwise, they may
choose to leave.
"WINGS"
After completing six months
at Open Arms, women may choose to enter the long term program
called WINGS which will provide a total stay of one year. WINGS (Women
In Need of God's Salvation) will help the women address the
deeper underlying causes of their homelessness. Larger sleeping
quarters with a private bathroom are available to these women for
the remainder of their stay.
Volunteer opportunities are available at Open Arms.
You can give now to provide
homeless women and children an opportunity for a whole new life.
